Big Brooklyn Red w/ DJ Prolific
Wednesday January 5 @ 11:00 PM Tickets $10 at the Door Big Brooklyn Red's music is an expression of freedom and of the power in letting the creative spirit flow. It is a deeply spiritual and transcendent experience for Red to share with his audience. His performances are his place of worship, a time where he can communicate both to and from the soul in a language he calls "the Mother Tongue." Music is the Mother Tongue as well as God's first and best language and is meant to be shared with the whole world. Big Brooklyn Red is an artist unlimited by the conventions of the industry. He can apply his style to any music because his approach is organic, he feeds off of what is happening at the moment. That kind of gift is a two edge sword. The upside is that you can hear Big Brooklyn Red's voice on many different and diverse projects. He has recorded for a long list of NY/Miami/LA artists of many genres including hip-hop, spoken word, alternative rock, jungle/drum and bass as well as doing drops for local DJ mix CDs.

I don't know how many of y'all are old enough to remember seeing De La's video for "Me,Myself&I" way back in the day but it packs a punch. The first time I saw it I was like ,"damn that is exactly how I feel and I am not alone". Even though I was mostly into hardcore and metal at the time it still struck a chord with me because I was "different". I saw it today on vh1 classics and was thinking how things never change. But on the other hand I don't think Outkast or The Roots would have had it so easy back then either. Just thought I would babble.Thanx

Hey, everyone. I'm a blackanese girl born in in Japan, raised in the States, and came back to Japan for college. My musical tastes are pretty eclectic but I especially like neo-soul, acid jazz, standard jazz, old-school R&B,etc. My favorite neo-soul/organic soul artists are Amel Larrieux, Maxwell, Sweetback, Adriana Evans, Soulive,Seek, Ella Fitzgerald, Earth,Wind&Fire...I could go on for days but I think I'll stop here.
I've got a few mp3s(Adriana Evans,Angela Johnson,Seek)on my site if you're interested in listening. I plan to add more after I get through with finals(eek!).
